Course Description
Confidence in the Kitchen is a practical, hands-on course that forms a Statement of Attainment from FSK20119 Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways. The course is designed to help learners build confidence while developing essential foundation skills for everyday life, further study, and employment.
Through engaging kitchen-based activities, students will strengthen their literacy, numeracy, digital technology, communication, and problem-solving skills in a supportive learning environment. Learners will gain experience following recipes, measuring ingredients, using digital devices, reading workplace information, and completing simple workplace documents while developing confidence and independence.
The course focuses on real-world tasks that help prepare participants for vocational training, employment opportunities, and greater participation in community life. Skills learned throughout the program can be transferred to a range of workplace and everyday situations.
Students will complete the following nationally recognised units:
- FSKDIG001 Use digital technology for short and basic workplace tasks
- FSKLRG002 Identify strategies to respond to short and simple workplace problems
- FSKNUM003 Use whole numbers and halves for work
- FSKRDG002 Read and respond to short and simple workplace signs and symbols
- FSKWTG002 Write short and simple workplace formatted texts
Ensuring Access to Foundation Skills Training is a joint initiative between the Australian and New South Wales governments
Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment towards FSK20119 Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways, providing a pathway into further training, vocational education, and employment opportunities.
